About LetterLoop

LetterLoop is a free daily word puzzle inspired by NYT Letter Boxed. Each puzzle presents 12 letters arranged on the four sides of a square — three letters per side. Your goal is to chain words together, using letters from different sides, until every letter on the board has been covered. The catch: you can never use two consecutive letters from the same edge. LetterLoop runs entirely in your browser — no account required, no ads, no subscription, and it works completely offline as a Progressive Web App. A fresh puzzle drops every day, and your streak is saved privately on your device.

How to Play LetterLoop

Click any letter to start your first word. Each consecutive letter must come from a different side of the square — you can never use two letters from the same edge in a row. When you submit a valid word, its letters are marked as covered (shown in green). Your next word must begin with the last letter of your previous word, and that starting letter must come from a different edge than the one your last word ended on. Keep chaining words until all 12 letters are covered to win. You can undo your last submitted word or restart the puzzle at any time. Words must be at least 3 letters long.

LetterLoop Tips & Strategies

Before touching the board, scan all 12 letters and mentally plan a 2–3 word chain — fewer words means a more elegant solve. Long words are your best friends: a single 7-letter word covers more than half the board. Watch out for letters like Q, X, or Z that are hard to chain from; use them early in your sequence, not as ending letters that force your next word to start awkwardly. Remember the core rule: no two consecutive letters from the same side. So keep one eye on which side each letter belongs to as you build. If you're stuck, look for common 3-letter words (ATE, OUR, ERA) that bridge awkward letter combinations and open up longer chains.

LetterLoop vs Letter Boxed

LetterLoop vs NYT Letter Boxed: both puzzle types arrange 12 letters on a square and challenge you to cover every letter by chaining words. The key differences: LetterLoop is completely free with no paywall or subscription, requires no account or login, collects zero user data, and works offline as a Progressive Web App. NYT Letter Boxed requires a paid NYT Games subscription for unrestricted daily access. LetterLoop also adds undo and restart buttons absent from the original, plus a daily streak tracker so you can measure your solving streak across days. It's the best free Letter Boxed alternative available.

Why Play LetterLoop on PuzzleBoxs

LetterLoop is built for players who love the Letter Boxed puzzle format but refuse to pay a subscription. No account, no tracking, no ads — your progress is saved locally in your browser and never leaves your device. Install it as a Progressive Web App and play offline on your commute or a flight. The puzzle updates every day, so there's always a fresh board waiting. Undo and restart buttons give you the flexibility the original lacks. Whether you solve in two words or ten, LetterLoop tracks your daily streak and win rate so you can watch your skills improve over time.
