Our Story

PuzzleBoxs was born from a simple frustration: why do all puzzle game sites need ads and tracking? We'd been playing daily puzzles for years — Wordle clones, crosswords, Sudoku apps — and nearly every good one eventually hit you with a subscription wall, banner ads, or invasive analytics. It felt wrong. Puzzle games are meant to be a quiet moment of focus, not a data-harvesting exercise.

So we built something different. Ten handcrafted daily puzzle games, completely free, with no ads and no trackers following you around. Every puzzle resets at midnight UTC. Your progress stays on your device. That's the whole deal.

How We Build Our Games

Each game on PuzzleBoxs is built as a standalone Svelte component, bundled with Astro for static generation. There's no server-side game logic — puzzles are generated ahead of time and served as pure static files. This means the games load fast, work offline, and never need to "call home" to function.

We test each game independently before shipping. The site itself is a Progressive Web App (PWA), so players can install it directly to their home screen on any device. Game state — your progress, streaks, and stats — lives entirely in your browser's localStorage. No account needed, no sync required.

Privacy by Design

Privacy isn't a checkbox for us — it's a core design constraint. Here's exactly what that means in practice:

• ✓Zero cookies for tracking. We use Google Analytics for anonymous traffic insights (page views, country-level location, device type). No advertising cookies, no cross-site tracking.
• ✓localStorage only. All game data — progress, streaks, settings — is stored locally in your browser. It never leaves your device and is never sent to any server.
• ✓No third-party embeds. No social widgets, no embedded fonts that phone home, no CDNs that log your IP against your identity.
• ✓No account required. Ever. Not for saving progress, not for sharing results, not for anything.

The Team

PuzzleBoxs is made by a small team of puzzle enthusiasts and developers who spend too much of their free time solving crosswords and Wordle variants. We're not a media company or a VC-backed startup. We're just people who think puzzle games should be free, private, and genuinely fun — and decided to prove it by building them.

• QuickCross — A bite-sized mini crossword, perfect for a five-minute break.
• DailyCross — A full-size daily crossword for when you want to go deep.
